If you want the optical output to support the effect of 5.1 channel output you must have the following conditions:
1. The audio source must be DTS 5.1 channel such as 3D games HD movies. If it is a normal MP3 or 2-channel film it can only have 2-channel effect. 2.
2. Player settings are very important: If you are using PowerDVD software set the output from optical Passthrough. This means that the sound card is only responsible for outputting the optical signal not decoding it.
We recommend using the KMP player which is very powerful.
3. The optical output must be connected to an AC3/DTS decoder or an amplifier with a built-in AC3/DTS decoder.
